The Morrisville campus includes over 50 buildings spread across an area adjacent to US 20.
This includes 11 residence halls, split into 4 different locations:
- The "Indian Quad" includes Cayuga, Mohawk, Onondaga, and Oneida halls, and is located in the center of campus.
- The "Pond Quad" includes Helyar, Fountainview, Stewart, South, and West halls, and is located on the east side of campus. It is named for the Helyar Pond, which is overlooked by the dorms.
- East Hall, a quiet dorm that consists of small suites of rooms, is located in the northeast corner of the campus.
- The Morrisville Commons, a suite-style dorm built in 2006, is on the far south end of campus. The Commons is operated by the Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation, unlike the rest of the dorms. This allows them to have different rules, including allowing alcohol on the premises, which is not condoned on the rest of campus. A second dormitory similar to the Commons is currently in the planning stages.
The academic buildings are spread out across the entire campus. The major buildings include:
- Charlton Hall, which primarily houses the Schoool of Business.
- Galbreath Hall, used mostly by the School of Science and Technology.
- Marshall Hall, home to the School of Agriculture.
- Crawford Hall, containing most of the large lecture halls on campus and the School of Liberal Arts.
Other highlights include:
- The Automotive Technology building, which includes classrooms and many large garages for student work in the Automotive program.
- The Equine Center, located 3 miles away from campus, has multiple riding arenas and large stables.
- The Dairy Barn, which is home to a herd of cows that provide milk to the campus and is used to make "Molly's Choice" ice cream.
The Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation (MAC) provides dining and other services to the Morrisville campus. It is a privately owned corporation and as such, is not bound by the same rules that the State imposes on the SUNY schools themselves. MAC works closely with the campus, however, and enables the campus to offer some unique services to the students.
The Dining areas on campus include:
- Seneca Dining Hall, the main dining hall on campus. Food is served buffet style, with multiple stations serving different kinds of food. Sandwiches and grill items, like hamburgers and hotdogs, are available regularly, while the other stations offer daily specials. As of April 2007, Seneca is under renovation and is scheduled to reopen for the Fall 2007 semester.
- Mustang Alley, located in the Student Activities building. Mustang Alley offers a wide selection of menu items from several stations. Cash or dining points can be used to purchase menu items. As of April 2007, Mustang Alley currently has a menu and structure similar to Seneca until the renovation is completed.
- Smooth Jazzy Joz, a coffee shop located in the Student Activities building. Also offers baked goods and smoothies.
- Laptop Cafe, currently located in Hamilton Hall. Frequently referred to as "Laptop" by the students, it offers items similar to a convenience store. A variety of snacks, drinks, baked goods, and candy is available. A daily lunch special is also offered. As of April 2007, there are currently plans to move Laptop to a section of Seneca Dining Hall in the fall of 2007.
- Stix, located in the campus Ice Plex. Stix provides pizza, subs, and grill items and is the snack bar available for hockey games and other events at the Ice Plex.
- Norwich Quick Pic, located on the Norwich campus. Quick Pic offers items similar to Laptop Cafe, but for the Norwich students and staff on that campus.
- Copper Turret, a full-service restaurant located on the corner of Eaton Street and Route 20 in the village of Morrisville. The Copper Turret is used by the Restaurant Management program to give students the opportunity to have real-world experience as part of their classwork.
Considered one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation (in the year 2001) for its ThinkPad program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace all phones in residence halls with individual cellular phones for students.[2]
On June 21, 2007, Morrisville State College announced the world's first large-scale implementation of a draft 802.11n wireless network.[3] [4] The "n" radios are scheduled to be deployed in late September, roughly six weeks after the start of the fall semester. In the meantime, the campus will place a/b/g access points across campus.
The campus Computer Services department is currently deploying Thinkpad T61's to new students and others that qualify. XP and Vista is currently being deployed as the base operating system.
- Is the home of the Morrisville State College Entrepreneurship Institute (MSCEI). MSCEI is one of the first college sponsored, non-profit organizations solely dedicated to bringing students and businesses together for the direct benefit of both.
- A new highlight and addition to the MSC campus is a 24-hour vending machine dubbed "Shop 24". While the machine is popular in Europe, MSC was the first college in the United States to adopt it. It offers a refrigerated section for milk, eggs and soda.
- Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.
- Being an agricultural college as well, the school boasts both a working (and award winning) Dairy of Distinction dairy farm located a short distance from campus and an extensive complex of equine science-related facilities, including a horse-racing track, located a few miles away on a side road.
- The dormitory buildings are being rehabilitated one dormitory at a time. Windows are replaced, heating systems updated, and other work is being done. At least some of the rooms in the renovated dorms are being converted to "suite style" dorms, with multiple single rooms with common living areas.
- On July 23rd, 2007, Morrisville was one of 23 colleges added to the RIAA's "hit list" - colleges identified for having high volumes of illegal file sharing activity (based on rankings) and targeted for investigation.[citation needed]
The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango area residents and employers.
