Stephen "Clucko" Cluxton is an Irish Gaelic footballer from Dublin. He is first choice goalkeeper for Dublin. He was part of the Dublin side that won the Leinster Title in 2002, 2005 and 2006. In 2002 he also won an All Star. He plays his club football for Parnells.

Cluxton was born into a soccer background, his father Pat Cluxton won a lot of medals with Postal Celtic. He played soccer with Tolka Rovers and also with St David's primary school in Artane , Co. Dublin at left back or on the left wing. It wasn't until he went to St David's secondary school that he began to play gaelic. Stephen played at corner forward for St Davids until the school goalkeeper Robert O'Connor was suspended. Cluxton was asked to stand in for him in that position and he remained in that position ever since.[1]

Cluxton is currently studying for a BSc in Science Education part time, and is also a primary school teacher at Dublin City University and has also played for the University's Gaelic football team. Cluxton was part of the DCU Sigerson Cup winning team in 2005 winning a place on the Third Level Hotshots Team. He won the Young Personality of the Year Award at the 2002 RTÉ/Hibernian Sports Ceremony held in the Burlington Hotel, on Saturday 4 January 2003.

Following Cluxtons sending off in the third round of the All-Ireland qualifiers in 2003 against Armagh, then manager Tommy Lyons blamed Cluxton on the defeat.[2] Following this incident, Cluxton seriously considered quitting the Dublin panel and he was offered a trial by Eircom League side, St. Patrick's Athletic. He won the 2007 O'Byrne Cup for Dublin against Laois at O'Connor Park in Offaly. The game finished on a scoreline of 1-18 to 2-13 against Laois.

Cluxton has a fear of flying and therefore, if he was selected, he could not play International Rules for Ireland in Australia. [3] Although, he has appeared for Ireland against Australia in Ireland and most notably winning the Irish player of the tournament award in the 2004 competition.[4] Cluxton did not take any part in the 2006 compromise rules series due to work commitments.[5]

He won his second all-star for his 2006 performances in goals with Dublin. He was named on the GPA Gaelic Team of the Year of the same year.
