Stephen Vaughan (born 22 January 1985 in Liverpool) is an English football Midfielder who plays club football at Boston United.
Vaughan started his career at Liverpool, playing reserve and youth football. However, he was deemed not good enough by the Anfield club, and was released in 2004. He had not played a single game for the first team, despite representing England at under 15s, 17s and 19s.
He was soon signed by League Two side Chester City, under the guidance of Mark Wright. He quickly became a regular at the Deva Stadium, despite mixed performances. Many fans questioned his presence in the team, and accusations of nepotism were made towards Chester's chairman Stephen Vaughan Snr. who is the father of Stephen Jnr.
At the start of the 2006/07 season, he was made Chester's captain at the young age of 21. Some Chester fans pointed to this as more evidence for favouritism, but in on January 3 2007, new Rochdale manager Keith Hill made Vaughan his first signing, initially on loan until February 4, but with a view to a permanent deal.
A piece of trivia is that he is actually the older brother of James Vaughan, who also plays for Chester City and the two are sons of the current Chester chairman, Stephen Vaughan.
On the 18 January Boston United signed him on a free for a two and a half year deal from Chester City.
