Steve Malaxos (born 19 June 1961) is a West Australian former Australian rules football player for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League.

Malaxos began as a forward with Claremont Football Club in the WAFL in 1979, winning the club trophy in 1983 and 1984 and playing in the 1981 premiership side. In 1984, he won the Sandover Medal and was named West Australian Sports Star Of The Year.

In 1985, Malaxos was recruited by the Hawthorn Football Club in the then VFL, and played nine games (kicking 15 goals) in his debut season, somehow achieving All-Australian selection despite playing so few games.

At the end of the 1986 season, the West Coast Eagles, due to enter the competition at the start of the 1987 season added to their inaugural side. Although he was no longer with Hawthorn, he was still on their player list and the Eagles were required to pay $35,000 to the Hawks as a clearance fee.

Malaxos's inaugural season at West Coast was an outstanding success, playing 21 games, and collecting the club's Best and Fairest award. In the Round 22 match of the 1987 VFL season, Malaxos collected an outstanding 48 possessions in a game - a total which still stands as a West Coast club record to this day.

In 1990 he was appointed as captain of the West Coast Eagles side. He played 20 games during the home-and-away season, and played in the club's historic drawn Qualifying Final with Collingwood and the replay a week later. Despite being captain however, Malaxos was dropped for the remaining finals matches, and eventually replaced as captain by John Worsfold, and indeed never played another match for the club.

Malaxos was delisted following the 1991 season. He played a total of 66 games for West Coast.

In 1992, he switched to the East Fremantle club in the WAFL, winning 3 best and fairest awards as well as playing in premiership sides in 1992 and 1994.

In 1999, Malaxos was appointed as coach of the Sydney Swans reserves team in the AFL.

In 2004, Malaxos was appointed to an assistant coach's position with Fremantle Football Club in the AFL.

Malaxos was inducted into the Western Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
