Steven Richards (born 11 July 1972) is a New Zealand born[citation needed] Australian racing driver who competes in the V8 Supercar category. He is a two-time winner of the Bathurst 1000 endurance race. In 1998 in a Ford Falcon with Jason Bright and in 1999 with Greg Murphy in a Holden Commodore. Richards is a rarity, in that he has driven for both Ford and Holden in the V8 Supercar category and yet remains popular among fans of both brands. Richards, who is the son of seven-time Bathurst winner Jim Richards, has previously raced for Jack Daniel's Racing/Perkins Motorsport, Ford Tickford Racing, Gibson Motorsport and Garry Rogers Motorsport. This season he will drive for Ford Performance Racing. This is a home-coming for Richards, because FPR used to be his old team Ford Tickford Racing/Glenn Seton Racing. Before taking up motor racing fulltime, Richards served his apprenticeship as an aircraft engineer.
