The Stockton Thunder are a minor league hockey team from Stockton, California in the ECHL that began play in the 2005-06 season. Their home arena is the Stockton Arena. They are the affiliate team of the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL They were moved from Atlantic City and originally were the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. Prior to moving to Atlantic City, the franchise was known as the Birmingham Bulls. The franchise originated in 1990 as the Cincinnati Cyclones. The Thunder hold the record for attendance during the 2005-2006 season with 228,364 total attendee’s. The Thunder beat the 5 time leading attendance record holders, the Florida Everblades by 3,736.
