Storstockholms Lokaltrafik

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Storstockholms Lokaltrafik AB, commonly referred to as SL, is the organisation running all of the land based public transport systems in Stockholm County.

SL was founded in 1967 when the subway, local train and bus-operations in Stockholm was gathered under a single organisation. The different mass transit systems had until then been run by different (both private and public) organisations. Veolia Transport Sverige AB is currently (as of January, 2007) the entrepreneur running the metro under contract for SL. Similarly Busslink and Swebus are the entrepreneurs running the buses, Stockholmståg the regional commuter trains, and Roslagståg AB the traffic on Roslagsbanan.
