Street Fighter is an American animated series that was featured on the USA Network's Cartoon Express and Action Extreme Team. Based mostly off of the Street Fighter movie and the fighting game Street Fighter II, the series follows the events after the movie. William F. Guile leads a team of fighters named Street Fighter. Street Fighter's mission is to fight against international crime and terrorism. Usually, Guile and crew have to deal with Shadoloo, led by the insane General M. Bison.

Aside from Guile, the Street Fighter team consists of Blanka, Chun-Li, Ryu, Ken, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Fei Long, Cammy, Dee Jay, and T. Hawk. Bison's minions in Shadoloo consist of Zangief, Balrog, Vega and Sagat. The dark Ansatsuken master, Akuma, initially from Super Street Fighter II Turbo, was also featured.

While many feel that the cartoon was much better than the movie, some fans and critics thought the show was campy and borrowed from G.I. Joe. Street Fighter ran for two seasons (October 21, 1995 - May 14, 1997) with a total of 26 episodes.

As mentioned above, the series is a mix of the live action movie and Street Fighter II, the game that inspired it. As a result, the show had references from both the live action movie Street Fighter, and the fighting game series Street Fighter.

• The show's called Street Fighter even though the bulk of the characters came from Street Fighter II, with some inclusions from Street Fighter Alpha (including one episode based on the plot of Final Fight) in later episodes.
• Guile's still the main character.
• Many of the made-up occupations for characters were kept (Chun-Li a reporter, Ryu and Ken are con men, Dhalsim is still a doctor, Sagat a drug trafficker, etc.).
• Honda, Balrog and Dee Jay are still gifted with technology.
• Blanka is still Carlos "Charlie" Blanka mutated by Dr. Dhalsim.
• Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile and Sagat are referred to as Ryu Hoshi, Chun-Li Xiang, William F. Guile, and Victor Sagat respectively.
• Zangief is a bad guy with Shadoloo, even though he switched sides at the end of the movie. No explanation was given. Most likely, Shadaloo had a very small villain count compared to the large number of heroes, and Zangief's default appearance of a scarred body and bearded face lends itself to an evil look.
• Guile's wife name is changed from Jane to Lucinda and even though he is married, Cammy seems to have a crush on him.
• Guile's hair goes more straight up rather than up then out like in the game.
• Captain Sawada is featured in two episodes and is referenced to have worked for Guile in the past.
• Bison's still a General and Guile is a Colonel, even though Bison had absolute power of Shadaloo and Guile is a Lieutenant in the games.

• The characters' appearances look very close to that of the fighting games.
• The characters can now do their special moves mostly missing from the movie.
• Despite being a con man, Ryu is dedicated to his training and fighting.
• Dee Jay is on the side of good and Balrog is part of Shadoloo whereas in the live action movie they actually had opposite roles.
• Fei Long and Akuma, who were left out of the movie, are in the show with their storylines left for the most part intact.
• Cammy's past with Bison becomes the focus of season 2. She even defects to Shadoloo in that time.
• Albeit the name and minor look changes (and one member completely missing), Cammy's team in MI6, Delta Red, makes a couple of appearances.
• In one episode, Blanka changes back into his human form. While his physical appearance is similar to the Carlos "Charlie" Blanka of the movie, his spare clothing is comparable to Charlie from the Street Fighter Alpha series.
• In the episode "Final Fight" Guy, Cody, Sodom and Rolento from the Final Fight series make appearances. They all also appear in the Street Fighter Alpha series, even though Cody didn't appear in the Alpha series until Street Fighter Alpha 3, when this show was cancelled.
• Other Final Fight characters like Mike Haggar, his daughter Jessica and Mad Gear members J, Andore , Damnd, Edi. E and Belger make appearances as well.
• Street Fighter Alpha characters, Sakura, Rose and Birdie all had major appearances while Dan and Adon had cameos.
• Gouken appears in one episode.
• Shadowloo was a criminal organization, not a country.
