Super Mario Strikers (スーパーマリオストライカーズ Sūpā Mario Sutoraikāzu?, also known as Mario Smash Football in Europe and Australia) is a soccer game only for Nintendo GameCube. It is one of the many Mario sports titles such as Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and has special skills and other features added to the standard rules. It resembles to Sega Soccer Slam, which is another soccer video game. It was the last Mario game to be released for the Nintendo GameCube in North America. The game has a sequel, Mario Strikers Charged on the Gamecube's successor, the Wii.

Super Mario Strikers has five game options. The first one is the Grudge Match, where you compete against CPU or human opponents. Up to four players can participate. The second one is Cup Battle, is where you have to compete and win against other computer controlled teams to earn the trophy. The third is Super Cup Battle, is a much more difficult and challenging version of the cup battle. To unlock it, you must complete all the cup battles. Forth is the Custom Battle is where you make your own tournament or game to play. The final option is Strikers 101 where newcomers learn the basics and controls of the game.
A team is made up of the team captain, three sidekicks to match the team captain's color code (for example, Princess Peach is pink), and a goalkeeper. The player's goalkeeper is always Kritter, unless the player chooses the Super Team. The team captains can also use a high powered shot called a Super Strike which will give two goals instead of one. The sidekicks cannot do Super Strikes. The Super Team however, can all perform Super Strikes.

- Super Team - A team of robots that were created specifically for the series. All team members act as the captain, thus allowing all of them to perform Super Strikes. They make a small cameo during the credits of Mario Strikers Charged, but have not yet appeared outside of those two games.

Not all stadiums are available from the beginning.
IGN gave the game a 7.6/10, or "Good" rating, citing a very fun multiplayer experience, but lacking in depth and options.[1] This game has an average critical review score of 76% at Game Rankings. [1]
In GameSpot's E³ 2005 coverage, this game was given the award "Best Sports Game", and was nominated a finalist for "Best Game of Show". It received GameSpy's "Game of the Year 2005" awards for "Best GameCube Sports", "Best GameCube Multiplayer", and was ranked #2 for all GameCube games in 2005. It also received IGN's "Best of 2005" award for "Best GameCube Multiplayer Game". It was even nominated a finalist for "Sports Game of the Year" by the AIAS for the 2006 Interactive Achievement Awards.
