The TMF/A-802 BuCUE is a quadrupedal mobile suit used by ZAFT and designed for ground combat. Its superior balance, running speed, and maneuverability give the BuCUE a distinct advantage over conventional bipedal mobile suits, particularly in rough terrain such as deserts. In addition to running and leaping, BuCUEs can also crouch down and drive using tank treads mounted on their legs. Initially, BuCUEs were armed only with a turret on their back, which could mount either a 13-tube missile launcher or a pair of railguns. However, after the capture of four Earth Alliance G Project mobile suits, ZAFT reverse-engineered their beam weapons and began refitting each BuCUE with a double-bladed beam saber which was mounted in its "mouth". Two notable BuCUE variants were also built. The first was the TMF/A-802 P-Mod.W BuCUE Waltfeld Custom Type, a field modification by "Desert Tiger" Andrew Waltfeld, which predated the introduction of beam sabers. Waltfeld mounted a pair of fang-like "head spikes" on his BuCUE's mouth and "foreleg spike" claws on its front feet. Elements of this design would later be included in the commander model TMF/A-803 LaGOWE. Later, after Waltfeld had received his LaGOWE, the BuCUE Waltfeld Custom was put into storage, then later acquired by the Junk Guild, who replaced the missile launcher with manipulator arms for scavenging work. This new version would be piloted by Kisato Yamabuki, and stored on the ReHOME. The other variant was the TMF/TR-2 BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type, which was equipped with enhanced sensors in its head and a large radome for longer-range surveillance (when N-Jammers didn't interfere with its use). It was armed with a double-edged beam saber, a pair of beam guns, and a retractable "leg spike" claw in each foot. One salvaged BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type head was modified and briefly used by Lowe Guele as a double-bladed beam saber for his MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame.

In CE 73, a variant known as the TMF/A-802W2 Kerberos BuCUE Hound was fielded. This version is armed with a pair of beam fangs and beam horns on its head, and the standard BuCUE's turret is modified to mount Wizard packs. In addition to the standard Wizards, the BuCUE Hound can also utilize the specialized Cerberus Wizard. This bizarre-looking pack consists of two additional BuCUE heads with long, flexible "necks". These heads each contain a beam cannon, a double-edged beam saber, and a beam horn.
