The tt-01 is a 1/10 scale chassis made by a r/c car company called Tamiya. Most tt-01 owners use them for "drifting" purposes, but some use them for rallying/racing. Because of its lightweight, bathtub chassis frame, the tt-01 is favored by many. It is cheap (compared to many other r/c cars), reliable, and has many, many hop-up parts for it. The tt-01 comes with a 540, 34t motor, also known as the "silver-can" motor. Tt-01s are shaft-driven, which is better than belt-drive. Belt-driven cars tend to have backlash, or rocks/gravel wear away at the belts. Most people usually change out their shafts first, because the shaft that comes with a tt-01 is plastic, and a bit weak. Tt-01 RTRs and kits are technically the same, except in kits the buyer has to purchase electronics (motor, ESC (Electronic Speed Control), radio, etc.). There are many different types of tt-01s, such as the tt-01d, which is a "drift" component of the tt-01, or the tt-01r which is the tt-01 race chassis. Many beginners buy this chassis as a RTR, or a Ready-To-Run. A Ready-To-Run car needs just batteries and a charger. The body is pre-decaled and prepainted.

A tt-01 has many hop-up options. Owners can change their gears, ball bearings, motors, shaft, [[]]ESC, radio gear, rims, and more.

A good motor is essential. Too little turns, and it will go too fast and will burn out the ESC. Too many turns, it wont go as fast as you want it to. The lower the turn is, (ex. 19t) the faster the car can go. Tamiya tt-01s can withstand up to 23t without burning out the ESC. Some people have claimed to have gone as low as 17t without changing anything, but it is not recommended.

Ball bearings are the most essential part of tuning up your r/c car. Full ball bearings enable heightened top speeds and longer component life. Because a tt-01d and the tt-01r chassis comes with full ball bearings, owners will not have to change them out.

Rims are all up to the buyer. Chrome black, chrome, gold, silver, blue, green, red rims..the possibilities are virtually endless. Most people will buy rims according to how they match with the color of their bodies, but it is all up to the buyer. But, do not buy rims that are not the size that matches the tt-01.

Bodies are also all up to the buyer. There is a choice between prepainted or clear bodies. Prepainted tend to be what comes with the RTR version of it. Clear bodies require painting, masking, cutting off excess parts, etc. Spray painting is what people usually do. There is a very large range of different bodies, which mostly all come with decals. Because a tt-01 is on a 1/10 scale, 190mm bodies are recommended. If 200mm bodies are purchased, offset rims may be necessary.
