The shilling (shilingi in Swahili) is the currency of Tanzania, although the widespread use of U.S. dollars is accepted. It is divided into 100 cents (or senti in Swahili)

The Tanzanian shilling replaced the East African shilling in 1966 at par. Coins consist of 50, 100 and 200 shillings and banknotes of 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 shillings.
