Tasmanian Rugby League

The Tasmanian Rugby League is responsible for administering the game of rugby league in the Australian state of Tasmania. Since the 2003-04 season there has been no organised competition in the state. The former competition folded due to rising public liability insurance costs and dwindling player numbers. The TRL remains optimistic of resurrecting a competition in the future.[1]

Prior to the competition folding there was a four-team Hobart competition between:

  • Eastern Suburbs Panthers
  • Hobart City Tigers
  • Sandy Bay Falcons
  • Derwent valley Sharks

A state-wide competition in the 1990s included

  • Launceston
  • North-West
  • Smithton[2]
