Teesra
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Teesra (from a Hindi word, translating to 'the third one') is a cricket delivery that is being developed by Pakistani off spinner Saqlain Mushtaq. Nobody knows - except for him - what it does yet, but he is planning to test it out whilst playing county cricket for English team Surrey during 2006. Mushtaq is also credited with inventing the doosra which is an off-spinner's googly (a leg break).
According to EA Sports' Cricket 07 game, a teesra is an off-spinner's delivery that starts off like a normal off break ball, but after release drifts slowly to the batsmen, before pitching and turning at an incredible angle whilst picking up speed and bouncing higher than a normal delivery. This is particularly useful if bowled just away from a right handed batsman's leg stump, as they often are unprepared and play the shot too late. If you use this against less skilled batters and tailenders(ie Harmison, Nel, Ntini etc) it will always get them out.
