At E3 in 2005, a teaser video featured Jin Kazama demonstrating some martial arts moves. Jin's skin showed different scars and shades, giving it a sense of realism. Sweat could be seen evaporating from Jin's body and going down his face. At one point, when he touches his flesh, it moves along with the movement of some sweat droplets. The video portrayed a similar dynamic look that Tekken has followed over the years.

At E3 in 2006 a second trailer begins showing Lili, armed with an umbrella or parasol, walking through a forlorn desert village. In the next scene, Jin suddenly careens through the wall of a church, and Lili follows closely behind, goading him into battle. The two fight and manage to land a few blows on one-another before being interrupted by Hwoarang crashing through a stained glass window on his motorcycle. Taking advantage of Jin's distraction, Lili kicks him high into the air, allowing Hwoarang to leap from his bike and crash it into the airborne Jin. The motorcycle explodes, prompting Jin to transform into Devil Jin. Devil Jin attacks the pair, but Hwoarang races forward and lands several kicks on Devil Jin, forcing Devil Jin to retreat back into the air. Incensed, he fires a blast of energy from the third eye on his forehead, causing the church steeple to fall towards Hwoarang and Lili.

In February of 2007, Namco released a third trailer. This new trailer featured actual gameplay footage of Tekken 6 and introduced two completely new characters: Zafina and Leo. The trailer also showcased many of the new stages and locales the game will take place in, as well as an expanded character-customization feature. Finally, the trailer ends with Bryan Fury, as he uses a shotgun to finish a juggle combo.

Director Katsuhiro Hirada (who also directed Tekken 5) said that Tekken 6 will retain all of the elements from Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that were well-received by fans. He also said that the stages will be bigger and will have more interactivity and the character customization feature will be more involved with gameplay.[1]

Hirada has stated that Tekken 6 will boast the greatest number of characters ever seen in a Tekken game. There are also two new confirmed characters. The first character, Zafina, will have moves Hirada likened to that of a "spider". The second character, Leo, is a German character who is intended to be a character which can be played by beginners and experienced players alike.[1]
