The Australian Financial Review is the leading business newspaper in Australia which is published daily from Monday to Saturday in a tabloid format by the media company Fairfax Media. In August 1951 The Australian Financial Review was started as a weekly newspaper. In October 1961 it became bi-weekly and became a daily publication in 1963. In February 1995, The Australian Financial Review Magazine was introduced, followed shortly by their website launch in June of the same year.

The website was relaunched as a paid subscription website in 2007, followed closely by the launch of a dedicated investment website called AFR Market Wrap.

Since the 1970s, the AFR has been associated with economic liberalism in Australia, driving a consistent editorial line favouring small government, deregulation, privatisation, lower taxes and trade liberalisation. However, the opinion columns incorporate a wider range of views.

The AFR is informally referred to as the Fin or the Fin Review.

It has a range of satellite publications including MIS Australia, Asset and CFO.

Journalists writing for the AFR include Alan Mitchell, and Laura Tingle. Regular opinion columnists include former leader of the Liberal Party of Australia, John Hewson, a frequent critic of former Liberal Prime Minister, John Howard; John Roskam of the Institute of Public Affairs; Tony Harris, former Auditor-General of New South Wales and John Quiggin.
