Ashanti says her new Universal Motown album, The Declaration, represents her sense of freedom at this stage in her career. "I'm steering my own ship and taking the lead on everything. You can definitely hear the growth; I'm working with producers I've never worked with before." Those producers include Polow Da Don and Babyface. The new album is due in February.

The Declaration is the upcoming fourth studio album by American R&B/pop singer Ashanti.[1] Ashanti has mentioned in several interviews that she worked with producer, L. T. Hutton, whom she worked with on her duet with T.I. and Tupac on "Pac's Life". BET also mentioned that she worked with mega producers Jermaine Dupri, and Pharrell Williams. She has stated that she recorded a song with rapper Snoop Dogg. This will be Ashanti's first recording without longtime collaborator Irv Gotti at the helm. Gotti has stated that as Ashanti's new effort will indeed be released under The Inc's umbrella, Ashanti is the captain of "her own spaceship".

It has been confirmed by Douglas' publicity team HUFF Promotions that Ashanti has also worked with famed producers Dr. Dre and Babyface. A new Ashanti song surfaced the internet in late January which was the Tupac-inspired song "You Can't Deny It (Ridah)". On June 28, 2007, the album's first single "Switch" featuring Nelly, leaked onto the internet. In an interview with MTV's TRL, Ashanti confirmed Switch as something that was 'put out there' and was just made out of fun. On September 12, 2007, Ashanti announced on FUSE TV's The Sauce that the official first single from her new album is entitled "Hey Baby (After the Club)". The singer noted that the song had recently been mastered and was sent to Universal.

Ashanti on a Austin, Texas morning radio program on October 17, 2007 stated that her new album will be pushed back yet again to 'the of top of 2008'. Douglas said that she needed a 'few more weeks' to finish recording and master the records. In a recent interview Ashanti confirmed two new Ashanti tracks "Crime" and "Good Good". Douglas also stated that the video for Hey Baby (After The Club) the video will be shot mid-December and that the album is looking at a release date sometime in April.

These tracks have either been mentioned by Ashanti herself, or have leaked onto the Internet some way or another
