The Great Outdoors is an Australian travel magazine series broadcast on the Seven Network. Similar to its competitor Getaway, the program features a team of reporters who travel around Australia and the world reporting on travel destinations, tourist attractions and accommodation.

The program premiered in 1994 in a 30 minute format and was broadcast on Tuesday evenings at 8:00 p.m.. In 2002, the show was expanded to 60 minutes and moved to the Monday 7:30 p.m. timeslot, where it had stayed until 2006.

After suffering a gradual decline in ratings over the past few years, the show moved to a new timeslot of 6:30 p.m. Saturdays from the 2007 season, where it is hoped the show can find renewed success against less competition.

In this segment viewers can write or email a question to host Ernie Dingo. Question topics vary from travel insurance to holiday safety, from customs information to duty free and more. Each week Ernie answers one viewer's question on air. Ask Ernie was introduced in 2002.

Each week many travel deals are offered to viewers for discount prices. Some may offer a free night of accommodation or free activities. The deals are usually limited to the first 100 callers to ring in or log on to the website. The deals vary from week to week. Great Deals was introduced in 1998.

Every so often a celebrity or sports star co-presents a segment with one of the regular presenters and shows the viewers their favourite holiday destination. Some memorable guests include Ian Thorpe (New York), Harrison Ford (Japan) and Peter "Spider" Everitt (Melbourne).
