IMDb profile

The Man in the Moon is a 1991 drama film directed by Robert Mulligan. It was the film debut for both Reese Witherspoon and Jason London.

Contents

The story tells of a fourteen-year-old girl named Dani (Reese Witherspoon) who falls in love with a boy three years older than her, a senior named Court Foster (Jason London). As their relationship begins to develop, however, Foster becomes more attracted to Dani's older sister, Maureen (Emily Warfield). The film focuses on the pain of the two sisters infatuated with the same boy, and the way that their relationship with their family and friends is affected.

The movie is notorious for a brief glimpse of a naked Witherspoon's rear end, though this depiction is merely simulated as Witherspoon was obliged to wear a body suit to avoid underage nudity.
