"The Meaning of Life" is a song by The Offspring, as the third single from their 1997 album Ixnay on the Hombre. The song deals with the subject of the meaning of life, and how too many people try to follow in the footsteps of others without trying new things for themselves.

  1. "The Meaning of Life"
  2. "I Got a Right"
  3. "Smash It Up (Live)"

The video for the song shows Dexter Holland hanging upside-down on a tree while singing the song. The video also shows people wearing masks riding "electronic wheelchairs" (described by Dexter) as fast as possible through a desert. According to the Greatest Hits DVD, the people are supposed to represent the band members, but were in fact stunt doubles.
