The Moon-Spinners is a novel by Mary Stewart set in Crete. A film loosely based on the novel was made by Disney in 1964, starring the former child actress Hayley Mills, with Eli Wallach and Peter McEnery.

The film is somewhat dark, similar to other Disney live-action features made in the 1950s and 1960s for more mainstream audiences, such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. By now, it is somewhat forgotten by most audiences, an obscure title in the Disney film collection.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

A girl named Nikki Ferris and her aunt accidentally get involved in a jewel theft, romance, and murder. The climax of the film involves the hero and heroine having to dodge the villains by clinging to the sails of a windmill. This scene does not feature in the novel.
