"The One Where Eddie Won't Go" is the nineteenth episode of season two of the television situation comedy Friends.

First aired: March 28, 1996

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Chandler catches Eddie watching him while he's sleeping. Angered, Chandler demands Eddie move out of the apartment. Eddie agrees to be gone by morning, but when Chandler wakes up Eddie is still there, putting fruit in the dehydrator - and has no recollection of their previous conversation. On his second attempt, Eddie says Chandler's request is "out of the blue" - to which Chandler replies, "It's smack dab in the middle of the blue!" Eddie, again, agrees to leave. But the next morning, Eddie's back - this time with a mannequin head he stole from a department store.

Estelle, Joey's agent, has gotten him another audition - for a two-line part on Another World. However, Joey feels he's too big for such a small role and refuses to audition. When his credit card bills come in - "Envelope 1 of 2, that can't be good," he says - Ross tries to convince him to take whatever jobs he can get. He also has a short talk with Gunther. Seems before he started working at Central Perk, Gunther played the role of Bryce on All My Children - until his character was killed off in an avalanche. When his stuff is repossessed, Joey finally sees what Ross is saying and agrees to go on the audition. As an olive branch of sorts, Ross buys him one of the tacky art pieces he loves - a large ceramic dog.

Phoebe, Monica and Rachel read a female empowerment book titled Be Your Own Windkeeper. Eventually, the girls argue about who is stealing each others' "wind." They finally decide to forgive each other, and all is well.

Chandler finally finds a way to use Eddie's bad memory for his own benefit. He gets the locks changed, puts all of Eddie's stuff in the lobby of the building - and allows Joey to move back in. When Eddie confronts Chandler, Chandler pretends not to know him and that Joey has lived there all along. Eddie apologizes for the misunderstanding, and leaves the two alone.

  • The large ceramic dog was given to Jennifer Aniston as a good-luck gift from a friend. She donated it for use on the show.
