The Spanish Main is a 1945 adventure film starring Maureen O'Hara and directed by Frank Borzage. It was RKO's first all-Technicolor film since Becky Sharp ten years before. Cinematographer George Barnes received an Academy Award nomination for Best Color Cinematography. Paul Henreid and Walter Slezak also star. Though a box office hit upon its first release, the film is largely forgotten today, despite occasional airings on cable stations such as Turner Classic Movies.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Dutch sea captain Laurent Van Horn (Paul Henreid) is shipwrecked off the coast of the Spanish island of Cartegena. After being held and sentenced to death, Van Horn and his crew manage to escape, capturing Francisca Alvarado (Maureen O'Hara), the daughter of the corrupt governor (Walter Slezak). Over time Alverado and Van Horn become attracted to each other and must set out to defeat the "bad guys" (both the local politicians and mutinous pirates).
