"The Virgin" is the fiftieth episode of the sitcom Seinfeld. It was the 10th episode for the 4th season. It aired on November 11, 1992.
After much procrastination, George and Jerry strain to think of an idea for their TV series a few hours before a meeting with NBC executives. Jerry finds out a girl he once met is still a virgin, and later Elaine educates her about men after sex. George wants to end his relationship with Susan so he can exploit his writing profession as a pick-up line. Elaine runs into and injures Ping, a Chinese delivery boy. Kramer watches too much television. George gets Susan fired by NBC when he kisses her on the lips before a start of a meeting to finalize their sitcom.
- This episode was co-written by the Farrelly brothers, who went on to write and direct such comedies as Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary and Shallow Hal. The character Marla may be an early version of their trademark of the main female character in their screenplays being named "Mary", because Marla can be traced back to the name Mary.
- George: This is unbelievable! Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in.
--
- Marla: Well, I'll tell you what I see...
- Jerry: Oh, please. And be brutal, I have no closet sensitivity.
- Marla: Are you very fussy about your pants?
- Jerry: I don't think I am.
- Marla: Because I have a very radical idea. Can you handle it?
- Jerry: Try me.
- Marla: Here's what I'm proposing. We'll eliminate all this, the bar, the hangers, the shelves and in its place we'll install a series of hooks! We'll put everything on hooks!
- Jerry: Everything?
- Marla: Everything! The shirts, pants, sportsjackets, pajamas; We can get eighty hooks on here!
- Jerry: You're quite mad you know.
--
- George: This is great! He fired her! This is incredible, he fired her. I'm out, baby! I'm out!
- Jerry: Why did he fire her?
- George: Because I kissed her in the meeting. Russell found out, he fired her over the phone. Finally, my stupidity pays off!
--
- George: They always remember the first one. I don't want to be remembered. I want to be forgotten.
