The Virginia Quarterly Review is a leading literary magazine in the United States. It was founded in 1925 by James Southall Wilson, at the request of University of Virginia president E. A. Alderman. The self-described "National Journal of Literature and Discussion" is a quarterly publication from the University of Virginia that includes poetry, fiction, book reviews, essays, photography, and comics from some of the nation's most notable writers, photographers and artists.

As of 2007, poems from the magazine have appeared in the 1990, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2006 and 2007 editions of The Best American Poetry series.[1]
