Theory of a Deadman is a band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada signed by Nickelback's Chad Kroeger to 604 Records. The band also includes traits of other music styles, such as country, metal and more acoustic elements. The band's lead singer, Tyler Connolly, gave Chad Kroeger a demo tape of their music whilst at an after show party. Chad, famous for his work with Nickelback, would receive many tapes and demos, but Theory Of A Deadman instantly attracted his attention and signed them up for a record deal.
They released a self-titled album Theory of a Deadman on September 17, 2002. This album released four singles, with two international videos for "Nothing Could Come Between Us" and "Make Up Your Mind". It was these two songs that propelled them into more mainstream music and acknowledgement. After the quiet but fairly substantial recognition from the debut, Tyler Connolly, the band's lead singer and one of it's guitarists, would be called up to work again with Kroeger and Josey Scot, lead singer of Saliva to perform on the soundtrack of the first Spiderman movie, of which both a single and video were released. This also brought attention to the band thanks to Connolly's involvement.
On March 29, 2005, Theory released their sophomore album, Gasoline. The first single is "No Surprise". Before the release of the album the band toured with Shinedown and No Address, and starting March 1 began a promotion tour with headliners Breaking Benjamin and The Exies. Theory's popularity has risen following several songs from Gasoline appearing in the soundtrack of 2005 video game Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy).
In the heavy metal scene, there is a conception that current Annihilator singer Dave Padden sung for this band, however he only played as a backup guitarist on a short tour of the U.S.A, as stated by Dave on the official Annihilator forums.
The band performed the theme tune to World Wrestling Entertainment's No Way Out 2006 pay-per-view, a cover version of "Deadly Game" from the WWE Anthology album. The song was released on the WWE Wreckless Intent album.

Previous members include Tim Hart, who played drums for the debut album, and then Robin Diaz, a session drummer who played for all the songs on 'Gasoline', apart from Daniel Adair, (who played drums on 'Santa Monica'), whilst Theory were without a permanent drummer.
The band chose its name from the original title of 'Last Song', a track Connolly penned seven years ago about a man who writes his memoirs before committing suicide. The title of the second album came from one of the lyrics of 'Santa Monica' - She fills my bed with gasoline...
- The videogame Indigo Prophecy used several songs from the band on their soundtrack. Most notably, "No Way Out" and "Santa Monica" which played during gameplay.
