IMDb profile

They Call Me Trinity, (Lo chiamavano Trinità) also known as My Name is Trinity, is a 1971 spaghetti western movie starring Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. A sequel, Trinity Is STILL My Name!, was later produced.

This film took Terence Hill and Bud Spencer to the level of international stardom.

In this movie, Terence Hill plays Trinity, who is a drifter, and happens to be good with a gun and his fists.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

In the first scene, Trinity comes into view accompanied by the movie's song. His horse is dragging him around in a travois. He is filthy, yet he seems relatively peaceful. As the horse nears a dwelling, Trinity gets up.

He enters the restaurant with to be met by the Mexican owner and his (ugly) wife, the cook. He also notices two white men, with an injured Mexican with them. Trinity receives food and wine from the man, and devours the meal. The two men are looking for convicts, and are disappointed to see that Trinity is not one. When they ask him his name, he answers, "Trinity." The resulting concerned looks on the duos faces illustrate Trinity's notoriety. Then, Trinity gets up and takes the injured Mexican with him, ignoring the two men. Outside he pushes him onto his stretcher, and shoots the two men from behind his back, when they attempt to back shoot him. It's a zen move showing his effortless, almost mystic skill with a gun.

He also happens to be the brother of Bambino (Bud Spencer), who has a less than legitimate past and is posing as the sheriff. The two form a grudging team to deal with a land baron who is attempting to run a group of Mormons off their land.

  • Apparently, the blurb on the back cover of the double DVD They call me Trinity and Trinity is still my Name was written by a critic who does not even know the movie. He actually claims that "...when they [i.e. Trinity and his brother the Sheriff!] look to the law for help, things take an even worse turn when the town sheriff himself proves to have turned in his badge for some dirty loot."
  • The cover of the DVD (see photo above) claims that Woody Strode also stars in the film. This is certainly not the case.
  • The cover also claims Giuseppe Colizzi as director, which again is untrue, therefore it would appear that the cover in question is actually referring to the movie 'Boot Hill' which starred Woody Strode alongside Hill/Spencer and was directed by Colizzi.
  • The translation of the German title of the movie is The Right Hand and the Left Hand of the Devil, which reflects the fact that the roles of both Terence Hill and Bud Spencer are (almost) equally important for the plot - and also for the success of the film.
