Thieves' Highway is a 1949 film directed by Jules Dassin. The film, based on a novel by A. I. Bezzerides, tells the story of a war-veteran-turned-truck driver who is attempting to avenge the crippling of his father at the hands of an amoral produce shylock Mike Figlia. The film was shot on location in San Francisco, California and is noted for its accurate depiction of the vibrant fruit and produce market in that city. The film was released on DVD as part of the Criterion Collection in 2005.
