Thomas Fairfax, 1st Lord Fairfax of Cameron

Thomas Fairfax, 1st Lord Fairfax of Cameron (1560-2 May 1640), was an English soldier, diplomat and politician.

Fairfax was the eldest son of Sir Thomas Fairfax of Denton and Nun Appleton in Yorkshire. He represented Queen Elizabeth I on several diplomatic missions to King James VI of Scotland and also sat as a Member of Parliament for Lincoln in 1586, for Aldborough in 1588, for Boroughbridge in 1601 and for Yorkshire in 1625. In 1627 he was created Lord Fairfax of Cameron in the Peerage of Scotland.

Lord Fairfax of Cameron died in May 1640 and was succeeded in the lordship by his son Ferdinando.
