Tiara Air (IATA: 3P, ICAO: TNM, and Callsign: Tiara) is an airline based in Aruba. Tiara Air has flights offering to Curaçao, Punto Fijo, and Bonaire. The airline has now Shorts 360 twin turboprop aircraft. The airline is currently based at Queen Beatrix International Airport. Its secondary hub is now located in Curacao Hato International Airport. Alejandro Muyale, the director, named the airline after his daughter Tiara Muyale.
The word "tiara" is derived from Latin, meaning "crown".
The Airline currently flies to Curacao, Bonaire and Las Piedras in Venezuela. The airline currently operates with two aircraft in its fleet, both are Shorts 360.
Some time ago, Alejandro Muyale, who has been performing aircraft ground handling services at Queen Beatrix International Airport for over 30 years now, and at Hato International Airport (Curaçao) for close to 6 years, fulfilled his dream of applying for certification with the Department of Civil Aviation. The Economic Authority has granted him a Shorts 360 as a way to start off his airline. The second Shorts 360 had been added to its fleet, Tiara Air is working to secure a Bombardier CRJ200, in the first quarter of 2008. The addition of this modern longer range aircraft will provide non-stop services to destinations such as Miami, Houston, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and other islands in the Caribbean. It is also expected to expand its services into the greater global market place. This rapidity of expansion, however, is no reason to believe that Tiara Air will not become a successful commuter airline. Some may believe that Tiara Air will follow the same fate as its predecessors, such as Royal Aruban Airlines, West Aruba and Air Aruba(the most recent domestic operational airline that had filed bankruptcy in the year 2000) but the present management team , who have more than 100 years of cumulative aviation experience between them, believe they have the formula for success where their predecessors failed. This new Aruban airline has won the hearts and gathered the support of many on the island.Ticket sales have increased month on month and the management team are working extremely hard to maintain the support of their local and international satisfied customer base.
