Tim Demler

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tim Demler is the Supervisor of Wheatfield, New York and was a Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor of New York in the 2006 statewide elections. Demler has served as supervisor since 1996 and has focused on economic development and tax issues. He unsuccessfully challenged Assemblywoman Francine Delmonte in 2002 for her seat in the State Assembly.

In early 2006, Demler announced his candidacy for lieutenant governor, with a focus on upstate economic issues. He was not aligned with either of the two candidates for governor, former Masschusetts Gov. William Weld and former Assembly Minority Leader John Faso. Demler withdrew from the lieutenant governor's race at the Republican State Convention on June 1, 2006. Demler, although receiving endorsements and pledges to ensure a spot on the Semptember ballot, opted to withdraw from the election and gave his support to the front running Faso/Vanderhoff team so the Republican party would have a unified slate and not go through a divisive primary. (See source below)

Weld chose New York Secretary of State Christopher Jacobs as his running mate and Faso chose Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef as his running mate. With the withdrawal of the Weld/Jacobs ticket, Vanderhoef is now the 2006 Republican Party nominee for lieutenant governor.
