Tiong Bahru MRT Station (EW17) is located on the East West Line on the Singapore MRT. The station is directly connected to a shopping mall, Tiong Bahru Plaza and the station is at Tiong Bahru Road. As the name suggests, the station is located in the northern part of the Tiong Bahru estate, but is quite a distance from the station to the famous hawker centre at Kim Pong Road/ Kim Tian Road which is temporary and will move to its original premises in 2006. The station is currently undergoing upgrading and will be completed by 2006.
