Tony Kenning

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tony Kenning was Def Leppard's original drummer; he attended Tapton School in Sheffield with fellow founder members Rick Savage and Pete Willis. Tony quit the band because his girlfriend was not happy that he spent more time with the band than her. (Some sources claim that Tony Kenning was fired from the band.) Tony Kenning was replaced by Frank Noon, who was himself replaced by Rick Allen. Rick Allen has been Def Leppard's drummer ever since.

Tony Kenning reportedly played on the studio portion of Def Leppard's Warchild bootleg.

Tony Kenning was later a member of a band called Cairo, who released an independent single in 1984. The band had more in common with Spandau Ballet than Def Leppard and featured Phil Wainwright (Keyboards), Gerry Fletcher (Vocals, Guitar, and Woodblock), Andy Needham (Bass), and Tony on percussion and drums, though the drums sound electronic rather than traditional.
