Trident Entertainment

Trident Entertainment is a Malaysian based media company specializing in distribution/production of recorded music encompassing primarily jazz, world and classical music, and is a major player in the Malaysian Music Scene.

The firm was started in 1983 and was known as Héma Enterprises, within just a few years Héma monopolized the field of classical music distribution, releasing rare and major recordings from the HMV (The Master's Sound) as well from other labels, coupled with national level appearances by Classical & Jazz Artist in Malaysia.
Trident Entertainment was founded by musician Prabhu Ganesh who took over operations of Héma's music subsidiary and renamed the division Trident Entertainment. Trident releases almost 65% of all Jazz, Classical and World Music in Malaysia, and has firm footing in neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand and India.
Renowned artists such as Prem Joshua and famous labels such as Harmonia Mundi are represented in Malaysia by Trident Entertainment which also runs periodic music workshops and scholarship programs. Trident's main competitors in Malaysia are Sony-BMG & Universal Music.
1993 saw the year of Héma's investment in world-renowned ethnic music labels, then after a new genre was born, hailed as "World Music", and trend which caught on very well and started to breed a new generation of musicians, who would eventually bridge the gap between Jazz, Blues, Ethnic and Classical Music.
Héma, a small sized firm, had grown into many other industries such apparels and cosmetics and its music business was sidelines for many years to come, at least until the remaining shares of its company was bought over by its original founder.
2005 saw the incorporation of Mizar Communications into Trident Entertainment, which would eventually represent artist from Trident Entertainment for appearances in South Asian countries, Mizar was purchased by Prabhu Ganesh from international jazz activist author Ron Eliyahu Zelig.
