Tullyallen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tullyallen (Irish: Tulaigh Álainn) is a thriving village located three miles north-west of Drogheda in County Louth and is adjacent to the M1 motorway. The name Tullyallen derives from the Gaelic "Tullach Alainn" meaning Beautiful Hill. Tullyallen is in the Parish of Mellifont and the ruins of the nearby Mellifont abbey date back to 1142.

The Morning Star bar and lounge is located in the village square in the centre of the village. Next to the pub is the SunRise Chinese takeaway. There is also a clothes shop for expectant mothers, a local engineering workshop with petrol pumps outside, the GAA Club Glen Emmets and the church. Moving along to road heading for Drogheda is the new shopping area with the MACE supermarket, Hairdressers and the Crèche & Child Minding centre 'Little Rascals'.

A motorcycle race takes place every year through the village and there is great excitement.
