UCF Arena

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

UCF Arena is a 5,300-seat multi-purpose arena in Orlando, Florida and was built in 1991. It was home to the University of Central Florida Golden Knights basketball teams through the 2006-07 NCAA season. It has hosted the Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball tournament three times: 1994, 1995, and 2002.

The last basketball game played in the facility was on March 3, 2007, when the Golden Knights Men's team beat the East Carolina Pirates, 77-64, in Conference USA play. The last Women's game was on March 1, when they lost to the Southern Methodist Mustangs, 79-58. In the 2007-08 NCAA season, it will be replaced by the UCF Convocation Center as the game facility for both the Men's and Women's basketball teams. The UCF Arena will remain, with its retractable bleachers replaced by 2,500 fixed stadium seats, and will be used both as a facility for minor indoor sports such as volleyball and as a training facility for the Golden Knights basketball teams.
