Ulen Hibiki or Dr. Hibiki is a fictional character from the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED set in the Cosmic Era timeline of the Gundam universe. He is voiced by Eiji Yanagisawa in the original Japanese version and Fred Henderson in the English dub.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Dr. Ulen Hibiki is a scientist who was in charge of the Ultimate Coordinator Project. His wife was Via Hibiki and he is the biological father of Kira Yamato and Cagalli Yula Athha.

Hibiki was incredibly ambitious, wanting to make the Ultimate Coordinator in order to achieve the highest potential of humanity. He even removed one of his own children, Kira Yamato, from his wife, who was pregnant with twins at the time, placed him in an artificial womb, in order to make the Ultimate Coordinator. However, his wife, Via Hibiki, strongly objected to creating the Ultimate Coordinator using one of their own children, stating that life should be born and not manufactured, but Dr. Hibiki still went along with the project. Stating that Kira Yamato is his son only, and not his wife's, he then sought to make the "Ultimate Coordinator" which to him, would bring about happiness.

At the same time, Dr. Hibiki was approached by Al Da Flaga, the father of Mu La Flaga. Al Da Flaga sought to create clones of himself because he thought of Mu as a failure and not his son. Al Da Flaga persuaded Dr. Hibiki into making clones of him by offering more money to fund his projects, to which Dr. Hibiki agreed.

However, the clones of Al Da Flaga, such as Rau Le Creuset and Rey Za Burrel all had a rapid aging process which meant a short lifespan, and all had to take pills to stop the pain that ensued. Thus, they were all failures.

He and Via ultimately died in the same fire that killed Al Da Flaga, set by Rau Le Creuset.
