Uriah Duffy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Uriah Duffy picis a bassist who is currently playing with Whitesnake.

Born in Rhode Island, Uriah Duffy is a San Francisco Bay Area based studio and live bassist and musical director. An internationally endorsed musician, Uriah is known for his versatility, with chops ranging from Funk, R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop, House, Rock, Metal and Gospel. He is also the current bassist for the band Whitesnake, whom in 2006 headlined numerous sold out shows and festivals worldwide, playing to tens of thousands of fans at a time. When not touring with Whitesnake, Uriah keeps busy as a member of bands Lyrics Born & Flametal.

Known as an "on demand" and "pocket" bassist, some artists he has previously played with include Christina Aguilera, Goapele, Too $hort, The Family Stone Experience (with founding members of Sly & the Family Stone), Tony! Toni! Toné!, G.Q., Tony Furtado, The Coup, & Pat Travers and Carmine Appice. When given the spotlight, concert goers can best describe Uriah's sound as "a mix of Larry Graham's funk, with Victor Wooten's technical ability". He also continues to support local musicians both in the Bay Area music scene and nationally.

Gear: One usually will find Uriah with his two "workhorse" basses- a Fender Jazz 4-string and a Lakland 5-string, using one for "grit or funk", and the other for anything "smooth & sexy". Uriah has been using all Eden amplification since 1995.

Uriah's name comes from the 70's rock group Uriah Heep. His younger brother Yes Duffy (named after the band Yes) was made popular on MTV's Road Rules, a reality show.
