Urmston railway station is in the Trafford metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester in the north west of England. The station is 9 km (5½ miles) east of Manchester Oxford Road on the Manchester-Liverpool Line. The station, and all services calling there, is operated by Northern Rail.

The main station building on the Liverpool-bound platform is disused. A new building on the other platform contains a waiting room and ticket office. The old railway station building is currently being redeveloped into a new Cafe-Bar. The station is staffed part-time.

Services are roughly half-hourly in both directions towards Chassen Road and Liverpool Lime Street to the west and towards Humphrey Park and Manchester Oxford Road in the east. Services are hourly evenings and on Sundays.
