Uzi Landau

Uzi Landau (born August 2, 1943) is an Israeli politician from the Likud party.

Landau was born in Haifa. He served in the Paratroopers Brigade of the Israel Defence Forces, and reached the rank of Major.

Landau is a systems analyst, with B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the Technion and a Ph.D. from MIT. He served as the Director-General of the Ministry of Transport, a lecturer in the Technion, a member of the Boards of El Al Israel Airlines, Israel Port Authority and Israel Airport Authority, and a member of the Board of the Society for the Protection of Nature.

Landau was a Member of the Knesset from 1984 to 2006. Between 2001-2003, he served in the government of Ariel Sharon as the Minister of Internal Security, and between 2003-2004 as a Minister without Portfolio in the Prime Minister's Office. He then left the government due to his objection to the "Disengagement Plan", and opposed Sharon's policy from within the Likud. Likud's routing at the 2006 resulted in Landau, who was number 14 on the party's list, saw him defeated in his bid for re-election.

Landau is married, and has 3 children.
