Madonna of Favana's Crypt

Veglie was founded around the 10th century. Veglie was a small village.

The tomb founded in Via Novoli in 1957 dates back to the Messapic times it is displayed in a provincial museum. Regarding the name, Francesco Ribezzo think that the origin of the name comes from the pre-Messapic "vel" of the Mediterranean origin meaning "elevation".

Its main industry are agriculture which features olive and wine production and manufacturers. Ice cream is also produced in the village.
