For the place in Ski, see Vevelstad (Ski).
Vevelstad is a municipality in the county of Nordland, Norway.
Vevelstad was separated from Tjøtta July 1, 1916.
The municipality lies in the middle of Norway, surrounded by mountains and fjords.
The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Vevelstad (Norse Vifilsstaðir), since the first church was built there. The first element is the genitive case of the Norse male name Vifill, the last element is staðir 'homestead, farm'.
The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1992). It shows three chevrons (to represent the letter V).
