Viktor Sanikidze (born April 1, 1986 in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR, Soviet Union[1]) is a Georgian professional basketball player who plays the small forward position. He was drafted with the 42nd pick of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, but his rights were traded the same day to the San Antonio Spurs for a 2005 second-round draft pick and cash considerations.[2] The Spurs still hold his NBA rights, but they have yet to sign him to a contract, and he continues to play overseas.

In 2001-2002, Sanikidze attended and played basketball for Globe Tech Junior College in New York City. In the 2002-2003 season, he returned home to Georgia to play for Academy Tbilisi, an amateur basketball team in his hometown. In 2003 he signed with SAOS JDA Dijon in the French Pro A League.[1]

Currently he plays for MMT Estudiantes in the Spanish ACB.

Sanikidze has also played for multiple national teams for the Republic of Georgia, including in the European Championship for Juniors in 2004[1] and the Ostchem U20 European Championship Division B in 2006.[3]
