WKPT

WKPT is a North American radio station, located in Kingsport, Tennessee. It operates on a frequency of 1400 kilohertz, with a daytime/nighttime power of 1,000 watts. WKPT is one of the oldest radio stations in East Tennessee, first taking the airwaves in 1940. The station format is officially listed as "oldies," but does provide other alternative programming, including broadcast of area high school football and basketball, University of Tennessee athletics, Indianapolis Colts football and Charlotte Bobcats basketball. WKPT is an affiliate of the ABC Radio Network.
WKPT Radio is part of a chain of radio stations officially dubbed "The WKPT Radio Network." These stations include WKPT-1400 Kingsport, WOPI-1490 Bristol, and WKTP-1590 Jonesborough/Johnson City. All three stations are owned by Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation, a subsidiary of Glenwood Communications Corporation.
Holston Valley Broadcasting also operates television stations WKPT-TV 19 (ABC) and WAPK-UPN 36. Other radio stations in the chain include 98.5 WTFM-FM and WMEV-FM (FM 94!). Additionally, Holston leases studio space to radio stations WRZK-FM (95.9 K-Rock) and to WEYE-FM (Hot 104.3). While Holston Valley leases studio space and provides talent for these stations, they do not own them.
Holston Valley Broadcasting's corporate offices are located at 222 Commerce Street in Kingsport, Tennessee.
