WWE No Way Out

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No Way Out is a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment and held in the month of February. The event started in 1998 and has been held annually since excluding 1999, where it was replaced by St. Valentine's Day Massacre due to Valentine's Day falling on a Sunday that year. When the No Way Out event first started out in 1998, the name was created as a play on World Championship Wrestling's (WCW's) nWo name[citation needed]. However, WCW threatened legal action unless the WWF changed the event's name[citation needed]; the WWF responded by naming the event No Way Out Of Texas, since the event was to take place in Texas. It was the second WWF pay-per-view to be named after the state of Texas (Tuesday in Texas was the other). From 2004 to 2007, No Way Out was an event exclusive to the SmackDown! brand.
