Over the Edge 1999 took place on May 23, 1999 at the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri.

Over the Edge 1999 was remembered by professional wrestlers and fans alike, as the show where Owen Hart fell to his death during an in-ring stunt. The WWF made the decision to continue the show after Owen's death, a decision that was criticized by many and still is today.

On May 24, 1999, a tribute to Owen Hart was held on Raw is War in St. Louis called RAW is Owen. It featured interviews from his fellow wrestlers.

After only two years, the event was retired, apparently out of respect for Owen Hart. Over the Edge has not been held since. In addition, Over the Edge 1999 has never been officially released on VHS or DVD, although bootleg copies of Over the Edge 1999 (as recorded from the original broadcasts) have been known to pop up on eBay and on BitTorrent sites.
