Currently, the school is being added to with extra classrooms, and an "atrium" in the entryway. Construction is slated to end in 2007.

The athletics program at the high school is run by Mr. Steve Glesenkamp. The school's football team participates in OHSAA Division III and is a member of the Ohio Capital Conference. Also, the school sponsors basketball, wrestling, softball, soccer, baseball, tennis, cross-country, and track.

In addition to over 20 artistically based courses available in the school curriculum, many belong to the school’s Golden Eagle Band (which consists today of over 120 members) and the choir program (over 180 members). Taught and directed by Mr. Craig Porter and Mrs. Lisa Huston, these groups are the largest of the school’s arts program.

The Band and Choir are complemented and joined by Big Walnut High School’s drama and theater club. Organized by Ms. Christina Mengerink and the choir department’s Mrs. Huston, they produce and perform 2 shows a year, a fall/winter play and a spring musical. In past years they have performed a series of productions including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Grease, Seussical, A Christmas Carol, and most recently, AIDA.

The principal of the high school is Charles Workman, and the vice principal is Brad Felkey.
