War Prince Nataku

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

War Prince Nataku is a fictional character in the manga and anime Gensomaden Saiyuki. Nataku is based on the Taoist deity Nezha.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Nataku is also known as the "Puppet Assassin" or by his full name, Nataku Taishi or Crown Prince Nataku. He is considered a heretical being with taboo origins. At the beginning of Gensomaden Saiyuki, he has served 500 years.

Because of Nataku's taboo blood and his father Li Touten, he is ordered to subdue the Bull demon Gyumaoh and his minions, with the help of the heaven army. Although he manages to subdue Gyumaoh, he suffers wounds that almost take his life.

Before being ordered to subdue Gyumaoh, Nataku meets Son Goku, another heretical being. The two become fast friends due to their similar nature. Nataku promises to take Son Goku on a tour of heaven, while Son Goku promises to tell Nataku his name if he ever obtains one.

The two meet again in the room of Nataku while he is recovering from his wounds. It is the last time they speak with each other. Shortly afterwards, Nataku stabs himself, possibly fatally, rather than kill Son Goku.
