Weblog network
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A collection of weblogs which are organized and run loosely by centralized management team. Many weblog networks resemble loose examples of magazine publishing houses. Many blog networks seek economy of scale and scope effects to support their web blog authors. Most blog networks make money via advertising revenue. In the future blog networks may bundle their offerings together in RSS readers. These bundled readers may resemble "digital magazines of a type".
The future of weblog networks will most likely see them emerge into multimedia magazine stables as the content they produce gets richer. The onset of audio, video and perhaps interactive media within blogs will mean that today's textual blogs, may evolve into tomorrows web of millions of channels available for delivery, similar to the early promise of the web.
Weblog networks seek to benefit from the network effects of branding and distribution, although the business model is still in its early days and the space is evolving rapidly.
