The Western Stone is a recently excavated stone block forming part of the foundation level of the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Although it was originally thought to be the heaviest single object ever lifted by human beings without powered machinery, this is not the case; that record seems to be held by the Thunder Stone in Saint Petersburg. The stone has a length of 13.6 meters, a width estimated at between 3.5 and 4.5 m, and estimates place its weight at 570 tons. The Western Stone is heavier than any single stone built into the Egyptian pyramids.
